Rainy Season Or “Monsoon is the perfect time for the breeding of various microbes and bacteria,
and often the green leafy vegetable get contaminated with such bad microbes or bacteria’s.
The vegetable growing soil often gets highly contaminated too, which certainly makes it
easy for the bad bacteria and microbes to leech into the leaves of these veggies and breed
its pores into them. Hence, avoiding these susceptible leafy vegetables would be a very
good precautionary option, but if you still want to eat them, make sure you take extra
precaution by boiling and then cooking them for at least 30 minutes to kill the infesting
microbes and bacteria’s.”

subcontinent does contains a group of chemical compounds known as alkaloids.
These are the toxic chemicals that is developed within this vegetables in order to protect
themselves from insects and pests. Since the infestation of pests is highest during the rainy
season, the consumption of eggplant or baingan should be absolutely limited,
as the over consumption of may incur certain symptoms of alkaloid allergy include hives,
itchy skin, nausea, and skin rashes and such identical short term medical conditions.

Bell peppers, known as capsicum in the sub continent is a very popular vegetable during
summers, as these are delicious and full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
However, these bell peppers or capsicum can cause problems when added in your monsoon
diet. Bell peppers contain chemicals called glucosinolates, which often break down into
isothiocyanates whenever they’re cut or chewed. These chemicals in the bell pepper can
cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and breathing problems when eaten raw or cooked.
Thus, it is suggested to avoid them altogether during the monsoon.
